It's responsible for cleaning toxins and wastes from the blood, and separating out the useful nutrients to synthesize hundreds of biochemicals that the body needs for daily functioning. The liver detoxifies harmful substances in two steps: First, enzymes and oxygen are used to burn toxins, especially fatty ones, so they are more water soluble, making them easier for the body to eliminate. Second, it combines partially processed toxins with sulfur or amino acids so they can be removed through bile or urine. Keeping the liver working optimally is very important to the healthy digestion of nutrients. A pertinent point Christina touches on is your skin and hair get nutrients last. The body is able to survive without good skin, hair, and nails, therefore these areas when the body is over maxed with inefficient functioning due to toxin overload and nutrient deficiency will be served last. If you are noticing a lack lustre in skin and you are getting your 10 servings of fruit and vegetables a day, then maybe it’s time to look at supporting your liver. Over the next while we will take some time to look into how to love our liver into a glorious glow! Want to join the conversation? Click here.
